Alpha Lipoic Acid
Alpha-lipoic acid (ALA) is a small, naturally-occurring antioxidant that has both water-soluble and lipid-soluble characteristics, and can directly interact with lipoproteins or membranes by acting as an antioxidant to quench oxygen
radicals such as superoxide and peroxyl radicals. What makes ALA special as an antioxidant is its versatility—it helps deactivate an unusually wide array of cell-damaging free radicals in many bodily systems. ALA
is also able to regenerate multiple other antioxidants, including glutathione, vitamin C, and vitamin E.
